Tzahal, Yosef (Yossi)
Son of Nathan and pleasant. He was born in 1942 in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, and immigrated to Israel in 1951. After graduating from elementary school in Amishav he began studying at the Arab High School for Youth in Tel Aviv and completed his studies in mathematics and physics. After completing his high school studies, he managed to fill in a place for teachers in various schools, such as ORT, Shapiro and the Torah and Professional School in Bnei Brak, and was also the center of evening studies for professional education at the school for apprentices in Abu- He was diligent in his studies and, as one of the teachers at the high school of the evening attested, “he proved himself as a devoted student to a diploma he had set for himself.” In July 1961 he was drafted into the IDF and completed his regular service with the rank of sergeant of devotion and loyalty. On the eve of Independence Day, 1963, he received a letter from the Honorable Second President, Yitzhak son of-Zvi, in which he expressed appreciation for his contribution to the security of Israel and its citizens. From time to time he was called up for reserve duty, and this was the case before the Six-Day War, when he participated willingly and loyally and showed devotion to his comrades until the third day of the battles. He fell on the 7th of Iyar 5727 (7.6.1967) When he fired the machine gun, the ammo exploded, causing a direct hit. He was buried in the military emergency cemetery in Bari and later transferred to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
