Twenty, Samuel
Son of Saadia and Yona. Born on 21.12.1950 in Nahariya. He studied at the Yarekhiv School in Moshav Yerahiv and at the Moreshet High School in Kfar Saba. Since childhood, Shmuel had faithfully performed all that was required to do in the fields, in the cowshed, at home, and at school. It is no wonder that all the village guides from previous years came to accompany him on his last journey, for they all remembered him well. When the sun rose he went out to lead the milk to the dairy and feed the fodder to the beasts, and he always managed to get to school in time, perfectly arranged. He was always cheerful and kind and friendly. Already from his youth, he distinguished himself as a leader among his friends and family. His friends remember very well how during the Six-Day War, when Shmuel learned that the war had started – and he was a student at the school at “Morasha” – he walked from school to Yariv, despite the shelling from Qalqiliya near the moshav. While his parents sat in the shelter and took care of him, he ran from position to position and a steel hat in his hand and calmed the guys who did not know what was going on in the farm. Afterward, he ran from shelter to shelter to inform the mothers and children that the husbands and fathers were in peace. Before he joined the IDF, Shmuel, who was shy and diligent, enrolled in a bookkeeping course at Beit Berl, and was very serious about his studies, modest and diligent, and was very fond of his friends. Knew that he had a profession and was prepared to work in this profession after he was discharged in one of the moshavim that would be on the ground.Smuel was drafted into the IDF in mid-February 1969. He was an excellent soldier and was included in the group of outstanding soldiers received by President Zalman Shazar. In a congratulatory message sent to him by the President on the eve of the State of Israel’s 23rd Independence Day, he expressed his appreciation for Shmuel’s contribution to the security of the country and concluded the letter with a “Blessing and blessing.” On the 16th of Tishrei 5742 (16 October 1971) T. Shmuel while fulfilling his duties in the Golan Heights. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kfar Saba
