Tuval (Shulman), Mordechai (Moti)


Mordechai, son of Golda and Shmuel Shulman, a survivor of the Holocaust, was born on April 8, 1947 in the Eining refugee camp in western Germany and immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1948. Mordechai was drafted into the IDF at the end of September 1965. After basic training, and after completing his army service, he underwent a course for commanders and officers He was assigned to a tank unit as a platoon commander and was given the rank of lieutenant.In his unit, he was considered a responsible and efficient officer, and according to his commander, he was a competent commander. There is someone to trust. Manages the affairs of his unit to satisfaction. Serious, maturing about his tasks, a collaborator and an activist, an entrepreneur and a desire to succeed. He was a veteran of the Six Day War and was awarded the “Six Day War.” After being discharged from regular army service, he was called for periods of reserve service and in 1969 he accepted the army’s call and enlisted for a regular service for a few months and served as an officer Armored Corps in front of the Suez Canal during the War of Attrition. He always tried not to worry his parents and did not much to tell them about the difficulties and dangers he encountered in the field. After completing his mandatory service he went to study at the Hebrew University. He was awarded the Yehoyachan Kenneth Prize in 1971. In 1972, after receiving a BA degree with honors, he was immediately transferred to a doctoral degree program, He studied economics and completed his first year of studies, and during his studies he worked for various jobs and worked in Machteshim. He traveled to Europe and returned to Israel at the beginning of the school year, in the course of which he was chairman of Arg Real-teaching assistant in chemistry at the Hebrew University. In the Yom Kippur War, Moti participated in the battles against the Egyptians in Sinai. In a battle held on October 15, 1973, in the central sector of the Suez Canal, Moti was killed by a missile in his tank after he rescued three wounded soldiers. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. Survived by a wife and a son born after they fell, parents and sister.
