Turgeman, Yaakov


Son of Rachel and Joseph was born on 12 March 1930 in Jerusalem After much effort, in November 1947 he was accepted into the ranks of the Notrim and immediately went to Hartuv in the Jerusalem hills. In Hartuv he served as a guard until the War of Independence broke out. The isolated place in the area of ​the book of Jerusalem, which the enemy attacked on all sides, was evacuated from its inhabitants and fighters. At the time of the evacuation, there were also wounded people in the area, and Yaakov was delayed in order to transport them and carried one of the injured for two days until he reached a safe place. After that he moved to Tel Aviv and joined the Israel Defense Forces and served in the Alexandroni Brigade. He participated in the battles of Lod and Ramle, and even saw the liberation. Later, his company left for the Jenin area, where it fell on July 20, 1948, when a grenade exploded in his hand. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya.
