Turgeman, Eliyahu

Ben Fortuna and Abraham. He was born on September 9, 1947 in Algiers, the sixth of ten children of the Turjeman family. At the age of one year he immigrated with his family to Israel. Eliahu grew up and was educated in Jerusalem. He studied at the “Branch of Life” elementary school and at the “Daat” vocational training center in the electricity track. At the end of his studies he worked as an electrician in an electrical panel manufacturing plant and before his enlistment he underwent a pre-military course that trained him for the role of naval gunner. Eliahu was drafted into the IDF in early October 1965 and was assigned to the Israel Defense Forces, and his brother, Yosef, was killed in the Yom Kippur War. During his long service, he was discovered to be a pleasant, responsible, willing and able person to advance matters and help others. “Elijah fell during his service as a reserve soldier on October 22, 1995. He was forty-eight years old when he fell. He was survived by three children: Ronen, Meital and Hani, and eight brothers and sisters – Yaakov, Hannah, Shlomo, Aliza, Moshe, Esther, Miriam and Aharon.
