Son of Yaakov and Chana. He was born in 1923 and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1924. He attended the “Tachkemoni” elementary school and the “Bialik” elementary school in Tel Aviv and was a member of the “Hanoar Haoved” movement when he moved to high school He was a fan of poetry and excelled at analyzing songs, and Raphael studied cantorial music and participated in the choir of the synagogue on the High Holy Days and was very active in his work, Tennis and table tennis, was a man whose kindness and peace of mind were evident in his smiling face, he knew how to encourage others and stand for the right of his family and friends in times of trouble. Rafael was drafted into the IDF in early February 1948, during the War of Independence. After his release from the army he was called for periods of reserve duty.
