Treves, Nissim


Son of Violet and Isaac. He was born on 15.1.1957 in Jerusalem. He studied at the Beit Hakerem Elementary School in Jerusalem and completed his studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem High School. Nissim was a disciplined student, admired and admired by his teachers and friends. He was a sports fan, liked to play tennis and basketball, and excelled in long distance running. He devoted his free time to reading books on the subject he had worked and interested in, the history and politics of the Middle East. He was a loyal and devoted son to his parents, and he tried to encourage them and help them at all times. Nissim was drafted into the IDF in early August 1975 and joined the Intelligence Corps, where he completed an Ulpan course in Arabic and another professional course and went on to the Officers’ Training Course, where he was sent to the Intelligence Corps units in the Golan Heights and the Galilee. He intended to study at the university and during the time that remained until the beginning of his studies worked as a security guard, and even went with a friend for a three-month trip abroad. When he returned to Israel he began studying at the university. During his studies, he married his girlfriend Pela, whom he met during his army service, and worked as a counselor for the National Council for the Prevention of Accidents. In this work with students, his warm and human personality was revealed. He completed his BA in Islamic history and was accepted to the General Security Service. As part of his work he served in Gaza and Lebanon. He then volunteered again for the regular army and was sent to the Gaza Strip as assistant to the Arab affairs advisor at the Civil Administration. He lived with his wife in Ashkelon and in 1985 their son Itamar-Yitzhak was born. More than anything, Nissim was a family man. He was careful to keep in touch with his parents even when he was away from them, and he felt a sense of visiting his sick father on his deathbed. On the first of Elul 5746 (October 1, 1986) Nissim fell during his service and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He left behind a wife, son, parents, brother and sister – Yossi and Orly. He was promoted to the rank of major after his death, and received certificates of honor and honor for his service in the regular army. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Nissim z” l was dear to all of us. He was not only a subordinate and a colleague, but more than any friend and evil. He played his role discreetly and gently. We learned to recognize Nissim and to honor him not only as an officer but as a person. “His wife commemorated him in a book called” No More Us “.
