Trachtman, Shlomo-Zalman


Son of Shoshana and Dov, was born on July 9, 1956 in Tel Aviv, and completed his studies at the Nitzanim Elementary School in Ramat Gan, where he continued his studies at the ” Yad Sarah, in the field of dental technology, during which Shlomo worked to acquire experience and expertise in the “Ramanit” dental laboratory. He was meticulous and punctual, and excelled in his responsibility and perseverance, and his employees were pleased with how he functioned in the work, and he appreciated and admired them. Shlomo was drafted into the IDF in early February 1975, and was assigned to the Armored Corps. After basic training, he was sent to a vocational course and completed his training as a tank driver with great success. Afterward, Shlomo was sent to one of the corps, and fulfilled his duties to the satisfaction of his commanders. He enjoyed his time in the army, and whenever he went home, he told his parents about his experience in the unit. In February 1978, Shlomo completed his regular service, and in his discharge certificate his commanders noted that he was a good and disciplined soldier and excelled in his responsibility and devotion to the job. When he completed his service in the IDF, Shlomo returned to his former job and continued his work as a dental technician, and during his spare time he spent time reading books and listening to music. In the middle of September 1984, Shlomo was called to reserve duty in northern Israel, and on the 2nd of Tishrei 5785 (2 October 1984), Shlomo Zalman fell during his service and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left behind his parents and brother. In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “We met Shlomo as a meticulous, thorough and responsible person, who characterized him until his last day … In this war he served as a tank crew … He also served as a model soldier,
