Toysig, Abraham-Shmuel
Son of Perl and Shlomo, was born in 1926 in Hungary to a well-known rabbinical family. During the Second World War, almost all of the family members perished in the extermination camps and the only ones who survived he and his sister, and they immigrated to Israel later in 1946. As soon as he arrived, he joined the ranks of the Haganah and fulfilled his duties with great loyalty. He belonged to Agudath Israel youth and worked at the boarding school of the “Israel Children’s Fund” in the Yemin Moshe neighborhood of Jerusalem. Every day he would provide the neighborhood’s food, which was in the line of fire, out of constant danger but without any fear. In addition to his devotion, he was known for his modesty and quietness. Shortly after the outbreak of the War of Independence on February 10, 1948, Yemin Moshe was attacked by an Arab gang and at the same time was among the defenders in an extreme position, Was buried in the cemetery on the Mount of Olives, whose name was engraved on the monument erected in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in memory of those who perished in the Jewish Quarter and the memory of soldiers who fell in battle for Jerusalem and were buried on the Mount of Olives.
