Touboul, Shimon
Son of Aliza and Masoud, was born on October 30, 1959, in Ashkelon. Shimon was shy and self-contained and very attached to his parents and family, and especially to his mother, who used to tell all that happened to him. After completing his studies at the Son of-Zvi elementary school in Ashkelon, he decided to continue studying at the ORT vocational high school in Ashkelon. During his studies, Shimon was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement, and played a lot of sports with his friends – especially in the basketball game. He graduated from the vocational school with honors. Shimon was drafted into the IDF in mid-July 1978, and after completing basic training, he was trained for the liaison corps, where he successfully passed many professional courses, and when the time came for him to leave the regular service he decided to continue his career. He fulfilled his mission, stating that Shimon was “a soldier with a will and investment in work, a professional in his field of work” and that he was “an initiator, a person with a particularly high level of work ability.” His last job was a communications technician at Egged Artillery headquarters. On the 28th of Sivan 5744 (28.6.1984), Sgt. Shimon fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Ashkelon. He left behind his parents (his mother died three and a half months after the fall of her son), five brothers and sisters. In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commanding officer spoke about Shimon’s qualities, noting that “Shimon was a great guy and every task he was assigned was the best he could ever do. And for Morella “
