Toren, Shlomo


Son of Frieda and Elimelech. He was born on May 16, 1947 in Germany, the only son of his parents, and immigrated to Israel with them in 1950. He studied at the V State School in Rehovot. Afterward he continued his studies at the Rehovot High School. Prior to joining the IDF, he worked as an aircraft mechanic at Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), and was drafted into the IDF in early May 1965 and assigned to the infantry. After basic training, and after being trained as a rifle commander, he continued his regular service in the armored infantry and ended up as a mortar officer. Shlomo participated in the Six-Day War and in the Yom Kippur War, as a reserve soldier. In 1978, he married Sarit and they were born in Daughter of-Tal and Son of-Ayal, and Shlomo worked for his livelihood in Israel Aircraft Industries. “Shlomo served in our unit since 1978, and was active in the recruitment center of the platoon beyond the annual reserve service, which he performed too well, and he was a regular soldier in the army cemetery in Rehovot.
