Topol (Aharoni), Shraga

Was born on September 27, 1913, in the city of Vilna, Poland. As a child he had been circumcised by his mother. His father was a war cripple and the house conditions forced him to give the son to education in his uncle’s home. At a young age, he left school and specialized in voting. Shraga was aware of Jewish and national questions and therefore joined the pioneering movement and did his agricultural training in Grochow and Shedlitz. He immigrated to Israel in 1938 and joined Kibbutz Ramat Hakovesh. After he went through guard duty and defense during the events of 1936-1939, he was sent to the British Army at the outbreak of World War II and was added to the Jewish Brigade upon its establishment. He served as a driver and moved with the Brigade on the war fronts in Italy. He also contributed to Holocaust survivors and their immigration to Israel. Shraga was a devoted friend and a loyal servant in his kibbutz home and a humble man in all his ways. He died alone. He had bravely defended his settlement since the first attacks. Was an armored commander in which he participated in the battle and in collecting the wounded and the dead. Responsible, serious, punctual, taking care of everything, and much of it in the standing of Ramat Hakovesh. On Monday, June 9, 1948, Ramat Hakovesh was shelled and one of the shells was wounded and a mortal surgeon was brought to the Ramat Hakovesh cemetery.
