Tobias, Joshua


Son of Rachel and Rafael. Born in 1888 in England, immigrated to Palestine as a Zionist and settled in Haifa. In Israel, he managed the Palmyra factory for stained glass and paintwork in Haifa Bay. Yehoshua was an active member of the Haganah, a respected citizen in commerce and society. During the 1936-1939 riots, on 12 Tamuz, 11.7.1938, Yehoshua died in an Arab attack on the car he was traveling in. He left behind a wife, daughter, and two sisters. He was laid to rest in the Haifa cemetery. An investigation conducted in 2017 found that his resting place was in Haifa, Israel.
