Tibor, Adam


Son of Batya and Haim. He was born on 27th of Shevat, January 18, 1919 in Budapest, Hungary. In 1935 he immigrated to Eretz Israel. He was active in the Haganah. After the outbreak of World War II, he was one of the first Jews to join the British army. He completed an officers’ school and during his service he attained the rank of Major. When the Jewish Brigade was established, he was one of its officers, commanded the infantry company, and with it went to the front line in Italy. On 11 Kislev, November 16, 1945, he was tragically killed in his Dutch service and was buried in Antwerp three days after his death. He left behind parents, a wife, and three brothers. His name was immortalized in the book “The Jewish Brigade.” An investigation conducted in 2017 found that his place of rest was in Antwerp, Belgium.
