Tezer-Pons, Abraham


Avraham, son of Siniora and Moshe, was born on November 10, 1946, in Tashurlo, Turkey, and immigrated to Israel in 1965. He studied in an elementary school in Istanbul and later went on to a secondary school in Istanbul and the agricultural school “Brenner Farm” in Beer-Yaakov. Avraham came to Israel alone when he was sixteen. When he graduated from the agricultural school, fourteen months later, he returned to his parents in Turkey. However, when he received an order to report to the Turkish army, he decided not to serve in a foreign army, he quickly received a passport and returned to Israel. By the time he arrived he worked as a newspaper reporter in Istanbul. Avraham lived in Bnei Brak and worked in various places until he was drafted. He was educated and, apart from Turkish, knew French and Spanish well. Avraham was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early April 1967. After completing basic training, he participated in the Six Day War, and was a main breadwinner for his family, After the liberation, Avraham worked as a clerk in the “Lachmanu” factory in Tel Aviv and recently as a salesman at Shalom Fashion on Ibn Gvirol Street in Tel Aviv, and was a member of the Oleh club in 1972. At the end of 1972 he married his girlfriend and later his firstborn son Moshe was born. During the Yom Kippur War, Avraham was immediately called to his unit and hurried to the place of his presence He was taken to the hospital and died of his wounds on the 11th of Cheshvan 5734 (October 9, 1973) (6.11.1973) and was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, leaving behind a wife, son, mother and sister, who was later promoted to the rank of corporal.
