Tessler, Shimon (Shimi)


Son of Shlomo and Nechama. Born on August 31, 1959 in Haifa, five years of study at the Remez elementary school, he continued his studies at the junior high school in his hometown of Haifa. Afterward, he moved to the vocational training school in the seminary, where he studied in the field of instrumentation and control, and was a talented, smart and fast-paced youngster who excelled in his real studies. Shimon was fond of swimming and even took an amateur life-saving course and a life-saving instructors course at the Wingate Institute, and devoted his time to nurturing his physical fitness in the Maccabi Gymnasium. And volunteered for a pilot course in the Israel Air Force. During the course he decided that he had made a mistake in his choice and asked to leave the course. After sending him to another course in the IAF, he applied to volunteer for the naval commando unit. After his request was accepted, he was assigned to the navy’s naval commando unit and underwent basic training and a squadron training course On the 29th of Adar 5768 (7.4.1988) Shimon fell in the line of duty and was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. In the short military track he managed to take on the heavy tasks, by volunteering for a pilot course and for the special unit of the navy. It belonged to the small unit of quality people.
