Tavilian, Jacob


Son of Avraham and Iran. He was born in 1952 in Teheran, Iran, where he died at the age of three, but he was forced to leave the school to participate in the family’s agriculture. With his family, who settled in Kfar Sava, Yaakov was hired as a metalworker in the “Sulpak” factory, and gradually the family began purchasing equipment and tools for their home, From the line. He soon became fond of his friends because of his good temperament, performed his duties with devotion and loyalty and was admired by his friends and commanders. In leisure he used to read newspapers and play football and take a dip in the pool. Slowly, but surely, he managed to overcome the difficulties of adapting to the new country. He learned the Hebrew language and even dealt in public affairs. But he felt torn between his duty to his country and his duty to his sick mother, who remained alone in her home without a supporter, since his brother had married him while the sister remained in Faris. Yaakov tried to stay at home as much as he could, and asked to be ahead of his release. On the 20th of Tishrei, 5739 (20.9.1972), Jacob fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the Kfar Saba cemetery. Left mother, brother and sister. A Torah scroll in his name and memory was donated to the Eli Cohen Synagogue in Kfar Sava.
