Tauber, Zvi-David (Heini)
Son of Chana and Ephraim he was born on the 4th of Tevet, December 9, 1926, in the city of Leipzig, Germany, where he studied Hebrew in the Talmud Torah. In 1940 he immigrated to Israel with his family. With the outbreak of the War of Independence he served in the “Kiryati” Brigade. On the first day of Adar I 5708 (11.2.1948), during a tour of the Jaffa-Tel Aviv border in preparation for an action against Abu Kabir, he was hit by a sniper’s bullet and died. The mission he was to attend was carried out the day after his fall and was named after him as Operation David. He was brought to eternal rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery.
