Tarp, Wilhelm (David)
Son of Anna and Albert. He was born on January 30, 1915, in the town of Wiesenhausen near Kassel, Germany. He first studied in an elementary school in the town and then continued high school in Kassel. His parents were well-to-do merchants and from the veteran and privileged families in the area, but Wilhelm was attracted to the work of the land and aspired to immigrate to Palestine and take part in its settlement. Kassel joined the nucleus of agricultural training and in 1934 immigrated to Israel and joined the members of the “Gan Hashomron” group. After completing his first training he joined Kibbutz Na’an and was sent to work at the Sdom plant. After completing a year in Sodom, he returned to Na’an, and after a while he enlisted in the Nutrim army and served as a patrolman in various places. During the Second World War he accepted the call of Yishuv institutions and joined the British army. He was assigned to the air force and sent to serve at an air force base near Rehovot. At that time he married a wife and the couple moved to Petach Tikva. Wilhelm made sure to maintain daily contact with his wife and whenever he could, he would visit the house. On the 21st of Cheshvan, the 1st of December 1942, he was killed in a road accident near his base in Rehovot and brought to eternal rest in the Petach Tikva cemetery. He left a wife, parents, brother and sister. His name is mentioned in the newspaper Haaretz and in the book “Conquerors and Builders.”
