Tanzman, Simcha
Son of Sarah and Moshe, was born on 26.1.1929 in Polaby, Poland, and in 1934 immigrated with his parents to Israel. In Israel, he completed his studies at the Balfour Elementary School in Tel Aviv and continued his evening classes and worked in the leather goods industry. He devoted much energy and time to the sport, as a member of Hapoel in a group of wrestlers. In 1945 he was the champion of Eretz Israel in “rooster” wrestling, and was awarded a medal for his achievements in Hapoel. He was a member of the United Movement. Quiet and withdrawn. His ambition was to go to agricultural training in the kibbutz. For four years he was a member of the Haganah and at the outbreak of the War of Independence joined the Givati Brigade. On the 14th of Tevet 5708 (14.12.1947), a caravan of seven cars with 48 fighters emerged from Petach Tikvah, as reinforcements for white fat, to surprise the convoy, not through the usual route, but through Migdal Tzedek and Beit Nabala. And in a defensive operation he killed one of the attackers. When he tried to return to the car, he was killed. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
