Tamir, Shalom

Son of Akiva and Zahava. He was born on 27.2.1947 in Tel Aviv, where he began to study at an elementary school in Nahalat Yehuda, moved to Tel Aviv and finally to Ma’agan Michael, where he completed high school. His studies included a summary work on the subject of “archaeological sites around Maagan Michael,” especially his strong connection to landscape and field on the one hand and water on the other, through which he continued to work for most of the years, discovered his strong attachment to nature, He did not know how to express himself in writing, but his personality found expression in a tendency toward a variety of activities that did not rest. In November 1965, he was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the air force. He completed his flight course in July 1967, but he is still in compulsory service. Shalom fell in the line of duty and during his service; This was on the 11th of Cheshvan 5728 (14.11.1967). He was laid to rest in the military section of the Rehovot cemetery. After his death he was promoted to lieutenant. The squadron commander wrote in a letter of condolences to his mother that Shalom was a disciplined officer, fond of his commanders and his comrades. He noted him as active and active, “and when the activity was not found in his hand he felt himself passing his time to nothing.” He also emphasizes the characteristic characteristic of peace – that is, his love for nature, a feature that stood out throughout his service in the unit. Ma’agan Michael published a pamphlet in his memory. A booklet in his memory called “Shalom” was issued by Ma’agan Michael.
