Tamasut, Joseph
Joseph, son of Zohara and Haim, was born in 1952 in Casablanca, Morocco, and immigrated with his family to Israel in 1955. Yosef was drafted into the IDF in early February 1970 and volunteered in the first place to serve in a combat unit. After completing his basic training in infantry, he was sent to a reconnaissance course, and after completing this course he was assigned to a reconnaissance company in the Armored Corps, during which he was a responsible, efficient and dedicated soldier. When he came home, he never complained about the conditions of his service, and in fact spoke little about Cashew and his experiences in the army.In early February 1973, Yosef was discharged from regular service and assigned to reserve duty in a reconnaissance unit. The young men were engaged in judo and sports, and when the Yom Kippur War broke out, Threshold his reserve regiment service. On some of Tishrei Tsl”d (16/10/1973) Joseph’s unit fought in scoring for the establishment of the bridgehead on the Suez Canal. Joseph was wounded in the battle, and on the same day died of his wounds in the hospital. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl. Survived by his parents and brother. After his fall, he was granted the rank of corporal.
