Tam, Israel
Son of Sa’ada and Shalom. He was born in 1910 in Yemen and immigrated to Israel with his parents when he was a year and a half old. The family settled in Nes Ziona, but not long after their arrival, his parents died. His grandmother took care of him until shortly after she died and he was sent to an orphanage in Jerusalem where he received his first education. As he grew older, he moved to a family of relatives in Nes Ziona, where he spent his youth, and even joined the Haganah. With the establishment of the Yemenite seat Tirat Shalom near Nes Ziona, he joined it as a member. Yisroel Tam was a decent, honest man, modest and quiet and pleasant and comfortable. He worked hard for the moshav and the welfare of his residents and he joined as the secretary of the moshav. At the outbreak of the 1936-1939 events, he was one of the guards who were recruited to guard the settlement. After a few months, he decided to resign from the Nutras and continued to volunteer for many nights while working in the moshav orchards. He was a packing carpenter by trade. Israel married. On 1 Cheshvan, October 26, 1938, he was murdered by ambush when he returned from work in the orchard and was buried in the moshav cemetery. He left a wife. He is mentioned in the book “Nes Ziona” and the “Book of Nes Ziona”.
