Tal, Shimon


Son of Ahuva and Gideon. He was born on the 23rd of Tevet 5731 (23.1.1971) in Jerusalem. When he was one year old, his parents divorced and he grew up until the age of four with his grandmother in Jerusalem. He then moved in with his father in Nahariya, where he attended elementary school until he was fifteen years old. Then he moved to his mother, who remarried and lived in Eilat. He studied in the junior high school in Eilat and completed his high school studies at the boarding school of the “Zionist Youth Farm” in Jerusalem. Shimon was introverted, closed, and shy. Dorit, his girlfriend, said that he was a very sensitive person, although he radiated extreme toughness. Prior to his induction, Shimon underwent a pre-military course in driving a truck. He was drafted into the IDF in mid-September 1989 and served in the Signal Corps as a truck driver, while Shimon fell during his service on the 6 th of December 1991. He was twenty years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl. Survived by his parents and brother Gil. In a letter of condolences to the parents, the commander of the unit wrote: “Shimon was a member of the unit, and he expressed his seriousness and responsibility. Shimon opened up to the environment, created new social connections and greatly strengthened those that existed. He functioned to the satisfaction of his commander, was responsible and invested. “His parents commemorated his donation by donating books to a synagogue.
