Tal, Ron (“Tushko”)


Son of Aviva and Oded. Born in Tel Aviv on August 8, 1965, he spent his early years in Tel Aviv, where he began his elementary studies at the Eliezer son of Yehuda School and continued at the Zahala School , After the family moved to Chez Zahala, where he studied at the municipal high school. Ron was a model airplane enthusiast in his childhood and even participated in a touristic group. In his youth, his imagination fascinated electronic devices and motorcycles, but he devoted most of his free time to social activity in the Scout movement. He was one of the Scouts. He was drafted into regular service in early November 1983 and was assigned to the Military Police. In this capacity, he served as a police officer and escort officer. At first he did not accept his appointment in the corps and did not identify with the service. But later sought to assume responsibility and passed an officer’s course, which he completed in November 1985. He completed his regular service in November 1986 and continued his service in the permanent army. From the command options offered to him, he chose the service in Gaza and served as the commander of the military police base there. In April 1987 he was promoted to captain. He was killed in a battle on the main street of Gaza in the attack on a terrorist cell belonging to the Islamic Jihad, who was brought to rest in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery in Jerusalem, leaving behind his parents and two sisters – Anat Ward The Minister of Defense Yitzhak Rabin wrote in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family that his commanders described him as a motivated officer with the ability to carry out difficult tasks that were not deterred by his difficulties. The Jewish students in Rome planted a tree in his memory in one of the forests of the Jewish National Fund.
