Tal, Guy
Guy ben Yocheved and Shraga was born on the 10th of Adar,March 18th, 1970 in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, while his father was there on behalf of the IDF. Due to his desire to serve in a combat unit, he practiced fitness before his induction into the IDF. His father died before enlisting. Guy joined the IDF in late 1988 and volunteered to serve in a combat engineering company in the Givati Brigade. He had a parachuting course and a Krav Maga course. His comrades in the unit talked about how he always helped others and that everyone was amazed at his ability and performance. On the 10th of Kislav, November 26, 1990, Guy fell in the Lebanese security zone north of Har Dov, when his unit attacked a terrorist force, which was hiding behind a rock. Guy was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Holon, leaving behind a mother and three sisters. Defense Minister Moshe Arens wrote in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family that Guy was a devoted friend and an outstanding fighter who knew how to create an atmosphere of security among his comrades. He was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant after his death.
