Tailor, Alexei


Ben Lubov and Leonid. He was born on the 8th of Sivan 5743 (8.6.1983) in the city of Yoshkar-Ola in Russia. Alex was the second child in the family, and his older sister Marina was very happy about his birth and even chose his name. As a child Alexei often play and have fun with his sister. In 1990 he began attending elementary school in his hometown. He took great pleasure in studying and acquired many friends, who maintained contact with them even after immigrating to Israel. Alexei was very interested in aerobics, chess and martial arts, and participated in the circles. He excelled in these areas and was ranked third in the Mariel district in a chess competition. In 2001 his mother died. Alexei had always loved to cook, and was always happy to help with the kitchen, so when the time came for high school he chose to go to a cooking school and a pastry shop. A year after his studies began, in 2001, Alexei decided to immigrate to Israel following his sister Marina, who had immigrated nine months earlier. Alexei immigrated to Israel through the Kibbutz Ulpan program and was sent to Kibbutz Mishmar Hanegev. The brother and sister met again after a long time. At the kibbutz, Alexei combined language and work in the local factory. As a sociable person, he quickly made social connections with new immigrants who lived in the kibbutz and with sabras. After graduating from Ulpan, he left the kibbutz and moved to Be’er Sheva, where he lived with his sister in her apartment. Alexei was an enthusiastic sports enthusiast and devoted a lot of time to training, and he did not want to think about other possibilities. When he learned that he had been assigned to Givati, there was no limit to his joy. Alexei enjoyed his army service, and already in basic training he acquired many friends. His dream was to get into a sniper course, but he did not get to realize his dream. On May 14, 2004, Alexei fell in a battle on the Philadelphi Route in Rafah, at the age of twenty. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by father and sister.
