Tafesh, Hossam
Hossam, son of Khazna and Abadala Tafesh, was born on February 11, 1992 in Beit Jann in the Upper Galilee, to a respected Druze family. From childhood, Hussam absorbed the values of the Druze tradition in his parents’ home, which give holiness to helping others, loving people and loving and defending the homeland. At the end of ninth grade he moved to a military school. On December 7, 2011, shortly after completing his high school studies, Hossam enlisted in the IDF, continuing a long tradition of Druze, serving in the Logistics Corps as an operational driver in the Hermon Brigade. All his friends and commanders said that he was the first to volunteer and take on any mission.
Sergeant Hossam fell in operational activity on 17 July 2016, when following a safety failure prior to a patrol, a grenade exploded near the soldiers. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Beit Jann at a funeral attended by thousands of Druze dignitaries, including representatives of the government and Knesset members who came to honor his memory.
