Swirski, Shlomo

Swirski, Shlomo

Son of Dov and Tzipora. He was born on the 16th of Tammuz, 5761 (16.7.1951) in Kfar Saba. He attended the Ussishkin Elementary School in Kfar Saba and the ORT vocational high school in the mechanics track. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement in Kfar Saba from the fifth grade and was a counselor there for three years. He was a favorite teacher of his apprentices and served as a personal example of everything he demanded of them. He had a great talent for manual labor. Shlomo loved the landscape of the country in general and the Arava landscape in particular. Within the framework of the “Yaalon” group he spent nine months at Kibbutz Grofit. To this kibbutz, he and his core members wanted to leave after their service. Shlomo was drafted into the IDF at the end of September 1968 and volunteered to serve in the Nahal Brigade. On the 12th day of Marcheshvan 5710 (24.10.1969), he was killed by the enemy’s shelling of Kfar Ruppin, where he served in Shalhat, and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kfar Sava. Dedicated to him and half to the memory of David Kimelfeld, who fell three months later.
