Swede, Abraham
Ben Haim and Hemda. He was born on February 1, 1939, in Syria. He immigrated to Israel in the middle of 1959, with the exception of one sister in Israel, who remained in the country of his father Abraham, and after his immigration to Israel he worked in a kibbutz that absorbed him and later worked in glaziers, Avraham was well aware of the economic difficulties of his eight-year-old family and worked hard to help send part of his salary to a family in Syria. After basic training and after completing his course in the Hebrew language course, Abraham finished a cook-course and was assigned as a cook. After his discharge from the IDF, Avraham was posted to the Haganah and was called for active reserve duty. At the end of his military service, Avraham returned to work in his profession and joined the staff of a glass shop. He continued to help his family in Syria, except for a devoted care of his family – his wife, Olga, and their two children. Abraham nurtured a warm and loving family life, and remained very attached to his parents and brothers in exile. On August 17, 1974, Avraham was injured in an accident and fell during his service after ten days of desperate struggle for his life. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left behind a wife and two children, parents, brothers and sisters.
