Sussen, Monique
Daughter of Nissim and Esther. She was born on September 12, 1958 in Casablanca, Morocco. She immigrated to Israel with her family in 1965. She studied at the Shahar elementary school and at the Mizrachi girls’ home in Be’er Sheva. Monique was a loyal and dedicated daughter. Due to the financial and health difficulties of her family, her presence in the house was vital and she had to divide her time between studying literature and staying with her sick father. From time to time she managed to get to work in the neighborhood youth home, where she was known as a social girl, acceptable to people. At the end of February 1977, Monique was drafted into the IDF and served as a driver in the Southern Command, and she was brought to rest in the cemetery in Be’er Sheva on June 8, 1977. She left behind her parents, five brothers and three sisters “In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, its commander wrote:” I remember your daughter and all the soldiers of the unit as a committed and responsible soldier. Monique was accepted and loved by everyone, and was known for her warm affection for her friends and her willingness to help others. “
