Son of Alice and Raphael. Yakir was born on November 20, 1984, in Dimona. Was the youngest son in the family and had two brothers and a sister. On 17 July 2006, Yakir was drafted into the Israel Prison Service and was appointed security guard at the Ramon Prison, where it was told that he is “a dedicated worker, one who can be trusted.” He later performed several positions, the last of which Yakir’s father, Rafael, was killed in a terrorist attack in the Dimona commercial center in 2008. Yakir was a good man, generous and loving to help, the family says, and in the last year of his life he met Eden, and the two planned to marry. At the end of the course, Yakir fell in the Carmel disaster on Thursday, December 2, 2010, The fire, known as the “Carmel disaster,” was the largest in the country’s history, destroying a forest, grove and residential buildings in a large area of the Carmel Park and its surrounding communities. Due to grave concern for human life, it was decided to evacuate prisoners from Damon Prison and then to Carmel Prison. The officers’ bus and the officers of the officers’ training course of the Israel Prison Service (IPS), Class A. At 15:30, the cadets’ bus moved between ancient quarries and Beit Oren, followed by police cars. The fire broke through the walls of the bus, huge walls of fire blocked the traffic artery, seized everything, and at the peak of every shred of life, forty-four men and women perished, thirty-seven of them officers of the Prisons Service Officers. Yakir was twenty-six years old when he died. He is buried in the military cemetery in Dimona. Survived by his mother, two brothers and a sister.
