Suissa, Moshe

Moshe (Mumy), Ben Sarah and Shlomo, was born on 29 October 1952. After basic training, he was sent to the Armored Corps School, where he underwent a course and was certified as a rifleman. He was stationed in an armored brigade in Sinai and after six months was sent back to the Armored Corps school to study in a tank commanders’ course. At the end of the course he was among the outstanding students and was asked to remain at the Armored Corps School to train in tank commander courses. His refusal to serve as a guide gave two reasons: one – he did not want to leave his unit in the south and his comrades; And the second – he wants to serve in the front lines rather than in the center of the country. In this way, Momi was returned to his henchman in Sinai as a tank commander. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, he was in the battle zone and took part in the fighting from the beginning. During the battle his tank was hit and he moved to another tank. He replaced several tanks until he joined the crew of a tank that did not belong to his unit. Together with the crew, he went to fight in the area of the “Chinese farm” and on October 18, 1973 his tank was hit and he was killed. After about 10 months he was considered missing, his body was found and he was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Tiberias. Survived by his parents and three sisters. After his fall, he was awarded the rank of First Sergeant.
