Suissa, Baruch


Son of Aisha (Alice) and David. Born on July 16, 1967, in Yavne, Baruch was a member of a large family and had eight brothers and sisters, some of whom were exceptional, he attended elementary school in Yavneh and finished 12th grade in Tel Aviv. Afterward he studied mechanical frameworks and moved with his grandfather, grandmother and mother to Acre. His father remained in Yavne. In 1984, Baruch was drafted into the IDF, completed basic training and was assigned to serve as a base in the north of the country, and did his best to help his family in Akko and showed concern for their needs. On the day of Tishrei 5748 (October 22, 1987), Baruch fell while he was on duty, and on the same day he took a formal vacation and drove towards Acre, where a fatal road accident occurred near the village of Rama. He was transferred to Rambam Hospital in Haifa, where he died of his wounds. Baruch was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa. Survived by his parents and eight brothers and sisters – Danya, Shlomo, Laline, Penny, Zehava, Avi, Mickey and Oshrat. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “Baruch was a good and loyal friend to all his comrades in the unit, and his staff expressed their deep sorrow at taking us gently from us and participating in your pain and grief.” His family in Acre commemorated his memory by introducing a book of haftarot and lamps in his name to the neighborhood synagogue
