Strommusser, Avshalom
Son of-Yehudit and Eliezer-Lipa was born on 10.7.1930 in Kfar Saba. Grew up in an agricultural environment and continued to work in the land, especially since his parents, as members of the Masada organization, moved to the land of Mishmar Hashlosha, one of its founders in 1936. Avshalom studied at the nearby Yavne’el School, The final in the school was astonishing in his knowledge of the Bible. In general, he was a book lover and a thirst for knowledge. Upon completion of his studies, he went to the Mikvah Israel for a year, and there he also guided his friends as a farmer in his childhood. He did his first training in Gadna with great devotion. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, he joined the “Barak” battalion in the Golani Brigade. Avshalom fought many heroic deeds: he carried out a daring mission by transferring weapons to Mount Canaan in Tevet 5708, took part in an attack on the village of Kana, and during the retreat in Sejera he secured the rifle and then took them out under the fire of the commander. He was loaded with explosives near the bridge, while the enemy planes bombed the place, and he and his friends, lying on one of the roofs, managed to draw the enemy’s fire, and helped the besieged soldiers to get out of the Old City. Burst into tears, strongly expressed his opposition to this and forced them to give in. He went to the last battle with a hard Lev, telling his younger brother, “I will be guilty “Avshalom took part in an attack on the village of Lubia, which was one of the most important enemy strongholds in the Lower Galilee, which blocked the road to Tiberias and could serve as a springboard for an attack in the direction of Afula.
