Stone (Philsteiner), Roy

Ben Zahava and Aryeh, Lord and Liora’s brother. Born on the 18th of Tammuz 5739 (18.7.1979) in Hod Hasharon, where he grew up and was educated. Roee studied at the State School A, went on to the “Rishonim” junior high school and completed his studies at the Musinzon Comprehensive High School in the sports track. He has always been involved in sports, has spent many hours and excelled in the field of volleyball. When Roi was in first grade, he was orphaned from his father. He felt great responsibility for his mother and at the age of twelve he began to work and help with the household economy: he would get up early in the morning, work in the neighborhood grocery store, and then continue to the sports lessons. He did all his actions with a smile and never complained. His mother knows that she was a supportive back, a comfort and a true friend, and that he always found time to work, learn, practice, volunteer and spend time. From a young age, he made do with a few hours of sleep – because he had to do enough, to do and to act, and everything – willingly, happily and with a smile. With a cohesive group of childhood friends, he volunteered in high school for the Civil Guard and worked with dedication. And when he enlisted, he set up a group of adult volunteers in Hod Hasharon and continued to work in the Civil Guard on weekends. Roy’s great dream was to serve combat service. His friends know that he wanted to reach the “best” unit: “He wanted to get to the real thing, to a combat unit …” “It was clear to us that he would volunteer for a combat unit. At the end of July 1998, Roi enlisted in the IDF, completing training and advanced training as a combat soldier and volunteering to serve in the elite unit of the “Duvdevan” unit. On the course he made and his esteemed figure, his commander said: “Ro’i underwent a training course for the combat soldier, at the end of which he was worthy of wearing the pin of the Duvdevan fighter. Modest and admirable … In the team, Roi was the pillar and an exemplary example for both the fighters and his commanders. ” His friends added: “He was a serious fighter and an outstanding soldier.” Throughout his service, Roy tried to protect his worried mother and saved her details about his actions in the army. He was ‘poisoned’ by the unit and the army, but at home he always said that the army was “like a camp.” When he returned for vacations, he would immediately enlist to help, even at the cost of giving up. The team members say: “Roi, always in a good mood, always optimistic, never complains or complaining, I would like to know how humble, mature and responsible you are when you informed us that you do not join us for a few days in Eilat, So we found out that you worked in the grocery store or gardening to help support the family. ” Roi had many plans for life and in all of them he took his mother into account. One was to start a business and be independent. Two months before his fall, he lost his grandmother, whom he loved. It was hard for him, but he recovered and went on. On his last vacation, he was able to visit his best friend, the last wounded soldier in Lebanon, when he was called to the base to go to the operation, from which he did not return. On 26 August 2000, Roy fell in combat In the village of Asira a-Shamaliya, in the Nablus area, along with First Sergeant Niv Yaacobi and First Sergeant Liron Sharvit, and another soldier was injured in the incident. In the cemetery in Hod Hasharon, and was survived by his mother, sister and brother, who was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant, and in the letter of consolation to the bereaved family, The “rare human qualities were very substantial, self-sacrifice meter”He always wanted to be the best, to be the first, and he came to it, but it turns out that he also lost his life.” The electronic and print media sikra In detail the circumstances of the disaster and illumined the image of Roi, his memory was immortalized on the website of the “Duvdevan” unit and in other sites.
