Stern, Ya’ari (Yaakov-Ariel)
Ya’ari, son of Yehudit-Inge and Mordechai-Haim, was born in Tel Aviv on 30.11.1949. During the Yom Kippur War he served as the operations officer of the battalion. During the shelling in the Mitla area, while he was patrolling through the ramparts, he was hit by shrapnel and died on the operating table on the 24th of Tishrei 5734 (19.10.1973), four days before his wedding day to his childhood friend, Ora. He was buried in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and brother. After his fall, he was promoted to captain. His father, who did not recover from the blow, passed away a year later.
