Stern, Shalom
Son of Gershon and Sarah. He was born on November 14, 1950 in Nahariya. When Shalom reached school age, he attended the Weizmann elementary school. After completing his studies there he studied at the Sprinzak vocational school and in Haifa he studied at the Air Force Technical School. In his youth he was a member of the Scouts movement. Was inclined to sports and belonged to Hapoel. In January 1968, he was drafted into the IDF and volunteered for the air force. On February 7, 1968, he fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Nahariya. His commander wrote in a letter of condolence to his parents that Shalom had been under his command only a short while, but he impressed him with his charming personality and concluded the letter: “He was a social focus, pleasant and quickly integrated into the unit.” Several pages were dedicated to him in a booklet that appeared on behalf of the Nahariya municipality in memory of the fallen soldiers.
