Stern (Kochavi), Yitzhak (Julius)
Born in the city of Regershausen, Germany, on 12.12.1912, he graduated from elementary school and studied baking, and in 1935 immigrated to Israel with his parents and worked until 1939 as a baker in his father’s pastry shop, In 1936, he joined the British army, moved to the Jewish Brigade, and participated in its journey and activities until his release in 1946. In the army he served as a driver and in this profession he also worked in times of peace.In the outbreak of the War of Independence he joined the IDF, As an old soldier, and left the battles in peace. In January 1949, he underwent a severe operation and died two weeks later, on February 6, 1949. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Rehovot, where he was followed by a wife, Rachel, and a child Aharon.
