Stein, Zvi-Aryeh (Leiby)


Son of Attal and David was born on March 2, 1919 in the city of Pappe, Hungary, where he studied at a yeshiva and in high school, and was a member of the Levante Youth Organization, a similar organization for the Gadna in Eretz Israel, Platoon leader. On October 14, 1939, he immigrated to Israel on the ship Rudnitzer. He continued to study in the Mea Shearim Yeshiva in Jerusalem. Afterward he moved to work at a button factory in Makor Baruch. He was a member of the “Dar” cooperative in Bnei Brak. He was a member of the Haganah and served in the “Hish” unit, and at the outbreak of the War of Independence he enlisted and served in an armament unit, and At the outbreak of the War of Independence he enlisted and served in an armament unit. During his spare time, he also tried to sing, although he still had difficulty in Hebrew. On September 19, 1948, he died of an illness at Beilinson Hospital. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. He left behind a wife and son.
