Steierman, Ephraim (Philip)


Son of Hannah and Yosef, was born on 22.1.1925 in Roman, Romania. He always aspired to a pioneering aliyah and prepared for it. After the victory over Nazi Germany and the liberation of Europe and the remains of its Jews, he moved to Yugoslavia and from there to Italy. Ephraim immigrated to Israel in 1945. He was a member of the Massada group in the Jordan Valley. He worked in various jobs and was active in security affairs and very devoted to them. Ephraim fell during the War of Independence on the 23rd of Nissan 5708 (May 2, 1948). When he was assigned the task of bringing food to his friends who had guarded the water institute near the group, through an area under enemy bombardment, it was in his hands, but on the way back to the group he was hit and fell. He was laid to rest in the Masada cemetery. After his death, his parents immigrated to Israel.
