Stargarter, Anschl

Son of Orna and Herman. He was born in 1916 in Germany. In his youth, when Hitler came to power in Germany, he fled with his family to Yugoslavia. He joined the “Hamevatzer” kibbutz where he underwent training in order to immigrate to Israel. After a hard day’s work, he would go out to guard duty at night to prepare himself for guard duty in Eretz Israel. In 1936 he immigrated to Israel and arrived in Haifa on the 100th day of the Arab strike during the riots. He joined Kibbutz Ramat Hakovesh, soon adapted to the living conditions of the kibbutz and was liked by his friends. He later joined the Hashomer association and was sent to guard duty at the Migdal Tzedek quarries. He spent one year there, but found no satisfaction in his work at that place, and one day he went to Ramat Hakovesh to examine the possibility of his return to the kibbutz. After receiving a positive reply, on July 22, 1938, he returned to Migdal Tzedek to make arrangements for the transfer. On the way from Ramat Hakovesh to Kfar Sava, a vehicle was shot at from an ambush and in the battle which developed with the shooters, two of the passengers were killed and others were wounded, including Anshel. The next day, on 24 Tamuz, 23 July 1938, he died of his wounds at Beilinson Hospital. He was laid to rest in the cloister of Abrik. His name was immortalized in the Yizkor book of the Jabotinsky Institute; In the book “Days of Ramah”, in the book “One Hundred Years of Preservation in Israel” and in the memorial booklet of Danke Walter and Anshel, Ramat Hakovesh, 1938.
