Sperling, Yehuda (Leo)


Ben Bilha and Menahem was born on May 14, 1900, in the city of Bochnia, Galicia, Poland. In 1933 he immigrated to Israel with his wife and daughter and settled in Haifa. Where they had a son. He was also involved in commerce and at the same time was a public activist: a volunteer judge in the Hebrew Magistrate’s Court and a member of the committee for granting credit in the “Immigrant Loan Fund” (of German immigrants). He was a member of the Haganah and one of the first volunteers of the Haganah, Yehuda was killed while carrying out his duties with the beginning of the War of Independence on the 9th of Adar I 5708 (19.2.1948) in the lower city of Haifa. He left behind a wife and two children. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa
