Was born on January 1, 1958 in Jerusalem, where he studied at the elementary school in Beit Hakerem, where he studied for one year, and then moved to Moshav Nir-Zvi near Ramle, where he continued his studies He graduated from elementary school and junior high school, moved to Ramle-Lod High School and completed his studies successfully, and he devoted himself to sports, especially basketball, from childhood. Before his enlistment in the IDF, Amichai wanted to serve in the paratroopers’ paratroopers, but he is fit to serve as a pilot in the IAF. In January 1976, he enlisted, underwent general training and a pre-preparation course. In October 1976, he was promoted to the rank of corporal, advanced to the training course, completed a pilot training course, and was promoted to sergeant in June 1977. He graduated from the School of Aviation in November 1977 and was promoted to lieutenant colonel. Amichai served as a helicopter pilot. In July 1977 he completed his regular service and continued his career in the army. His commanders saw him as one of the most talented of the helicopter pilots. The opinion of his commanders was: “Amichai is an enterprising man, fulfills his duties at a high level, is a good officer.” “Contributed greatly to raising the level of navigation in the entire squadron.” In 1979 he married a wife. The family moved to the air force bases where they built a very warm family unit and is open to many friends. In November 1981 he was promoted to captain. On the night of 15 Sivan 5762 (1982), a few hours before the outbreak of the battles of the Peace for Galilee War, he went to enemy territory to destroy enemy anti-aircraft positions and attack their vehicles. During his attacks, the connection was severed. Later, when the war broke out and our forces entered Lebanon, the helicopter was smashed in the orchard. His body was taken to Beirut by the terrorists and later returned. He was 24 years old when he fell. Amichai left behind a pregnant wife, parents and brother. Defense Minister Ariel Sharon wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Captain Amichai Spektor gave his life for his homeland, he fell southeast of the Zahrani grove, Amichai was an avid enthusiast, He fulfilled his duties with dedication and responsibility and was accepted and loved by all. ” The commander of his unit wrote to his family: “Ami’s name came to me long before he arrived in the squadron, and he was told about his ability to navigate and know the country, so I made a great effort to bring him to the squadron. In spite of the navigational difficulties, Ami proved to me that the legend was true … that marvelous navigational ability was the way to express his love of the land, which he realized in every possible way and at any time, on the flight, on the journey, and on the walk. Thanks to his professional skills he stood out, but also because of his comfortable character, his kindness, his willingness to help, his temperament and the light of his face. Ami has fallen in battle, thanks to him and thanks to him, the children of the settlements in northern Galilee now sleep in their beds and not in bomb shelters. ” Following an investigation conducted during 2017, he was promoted to Major.
