Sophie, Yoram


Son of Miriam and Asher, he was born on March 11, 1964 in Tel Aviv. Yoram grew up and was educated in the Kiryat Shalom neighborhood of Tel Aviv, where he graduated from elementary school. He continued to study at the ORT vocational school in the field of electrical engineering. From an early age Yoram was aware of the problems of state security. He was 15 when he volunteered for the Civil Guard. In February 1982, Yoram enlisted in the IDF, before he was 18 years old, and served in the Border Guard, where he hoped to serve in the Border Police, even after completing his regular army service. He underwent basic training, was stationed in the Border Police, underwent training, and when the Peace for Galilee War broke out, Yoram was sent with his unit to Lebanon. All the months of fighting, he was in the battle zones. From time to time he went home for vacations, but always tried to go out in the middle of the week. He gave up Shabbat vacations for the benefit of soldiers with families. On the 25th of Cheshvan 5743 (11.11.1982), there was a gas explosion at the Military Government in Tire. The building collapsed and buried its inhabitants. Among the dead was Yoram. He was 18 years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Holon. He left behind his parents, brother and sister.
