Sontag, David


Son of Chaika and Shmuel, was born on 26.6.1935 in Radautz, Romania. During World War II, David’s family was arrested and deported to a labor camp in Dzerin-Mogilev in the Soviet Union. The family stayed there between 1941-1944. After the war, when he returned to Romania, David completed his elementary and secondary studies. He studied at the University of Iasi in Romania, and graduated with the title of Chemical Engineer. For several years he worked in his profession in a factory in Romania. After his marriage and after his eldest son was born, David decided to immigrate to Israel. In 1964 he immigrated with his family and settled in Kiryat Yam. David studied Hebrew at an ulpan in Haifa and began working as a chemist engineer in a plastic factory. As a diligent and diligent worker, David progressed in his work, and in 1979 he was appointed deputy director of the factory. He was a good friend, and his colleagues at work would turn to him for all their problems. Over the years David had two more sons. His mother and brother, who were still in Romania, immigrated to Israel only after they fell. In May 1966, David was drafted into the IDF and served in a unit in the Engineering Corps, where he served in a unit of reserve duty, For reserve service in the Peace for the Galilee War On the 6th of Cheshvan 5743 (6.11.1982) David fell during his service. He was 47 years old when he died. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Tzur Shalom cemetery in Haifa Bay. He left behind a wife, three sons, a mother and a brother
