Sonnenschein, Moshe


Son of Perl and Yaakov, was born in 1920 in the city of Lubartow, Poland. After graduating from school, he worked as a seamstress in a shoe factory. At the beginning of the Second World War he was swept away by the influx of refugees into Russia and suffered many hardships. After the war he returned to Poland, joined Kibbutz Hachshara, went west on the “escape route” to the DP camps, and in 1948 he and his wife arrived in Israel. As soon as he arrived, he accepted the order of the hour, enlisted in the Alexandroni Brigade and served for about five weeks in Rosh HaAyin, Migdal Tzedek and its environs. Moshe fell during an exchange of fire in Khirbet Zikrin on August 28, 1948. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Petah Tikva
