Somberg, Arieh
Son of Chaya and Chaim, was born on December 26, 1926, in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, and immigrated to Israel on 13.3.1935. In Haifa he completed seven classes at the Bialik Gymnasium and excelled in his studies.in June 1946, he was hired as a clerk in the electric company in Haifa. From 1939 he was an active member of the Haganah. After the United Nations General Assembly decided on November 29, 1947, to divide the country into two states, he left his job at the Electric Company and volunteered for the defense service, serving in the Carmeli Brigade, was responsible for convoys in the Galilee, the Emek, Haifa and the surrounding area. In a battle in the village of Tira, near Haifa, on the 17th of Nisan 5708 (April 26, 1948), he was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
