Solomonov, David
Son of Evelyn and Mordechai, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States, In November 2000, David joined the IDF and served in the 13th Battalion of the Golani Brigade in the auxiliary company of the Barrett Division, where David was an outstanding soldier, responsible and capable of leadership, and his commanders wanted to take him to a commanders’ course. He served in Jenin, Gaza, Hebron and Metula, and David was an outstanding and responsible soldier, and an excellent friend who listened attentively to all those in need, who, together with experience and the ability to learn, gave him a special position in the company. He was popular with everyone and often helped solve problems and give advice, although he was not officially authorized to command. At the end of his service, On Yom Kippur, 6.10.2003, David volunteered to replace a soldier who wanted to pray. In the ambush, David discovered a squad of snipers stationed on the Lebanese side and skipped to a nearby bush for better visibility. In doing so, the terrorists spotted him and opened fire on him. In so doing David prevented shooting at the position where his other comrades were sitting. He was twenty-one years old when he fell. He was buried in the Kfar Saba military cemetery. Survived by his parents, brother and sister.
