Son of Vered and Sasson. He was born on March 10, 1966 in Kiryat Haim. The eldest son of a family of three. Ronen attended the Gordon Elementary School, the Rogozin Junior High School and the biological track. In his youth Ronen was active in the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement first as a trainee and later as a counselor. During this period he was also a volleyball player in Kiryat Ata youth. Before joining the IDF, he was invited to the air-force tests, and later to the naval team, and Ronen’s ambition was to reach the Golani Brigade and when he joined the Golani Brigade in late July 1984 he completed his basic training as an outstanding member of the Golani Brigade. He graduated as an outstanding trainee. At his request, he returned to the training of recruits even though he received a direct summons for an officer’s course. After a period of training, he went to an officers’ course and graduated with honors. He continued to instruct at Training Base 1, despite his desire to return to the brigade, and returned to the battalion as a platoon commander. Ronen was promoted to the rank of lieutenant at the end of his basic training and continued to serve as a platoon commander in the Gideon Battalion, and his commanders held many conversations with him in order to convince him to accept the position But preferred to continue with his platoon on the 14th of Cheshvan 5768 (November 6, 1987) Ronen was killed in the course of his duties, and was buried in a military post in the north of the Carmel Beach cemetery, followed by his parents, brother-Tal and sister Hila.
